In all fairness guys …
Nice to see you back, but I get the impression you’re just back to cash out (Sponsors, ads, T-Shirt sales …).
Recycled news from other Websites that gather news (mostly a week old, so hardly news^^), the word comprehensive seems to be foreign to you and the worst: the damn website is a mess. Does nobody ever have a look around here? Try to open a drop down menu. the second line is always blocked by the news ticker. Can’t read a thing.
and Space Rouge .. get a hair cut …
Get well soon.

In all fairness, the website is a legitimate complaint but the rest is rather… I won’t bother going into that…
OK, I will… We are not the Hacker News Charity Network, here to put clothes on the masses; nor are we run by a corporation trying to maximize shareholder value. If you wish to support HNN, you can purchase a t-shirt or click on one of our many ads. Viewing the podcast from http://www.hackernews.com is how we get to collect the most $ from your view. If you wish to leech, get us free and without pre-roll and post-roll ads, and without web ads, on iTunes or YouTube. It’s that simple – I really don’t understand these little complaints popping up here (once) and on YouTube (once).
Our current web design however, is another story. It has flaws introduced by some difference in our BETA and PROD platforms but we have a new and improved design on the way. Along with the new design come some additional features (individual story clips) so despite the fact that we’ve already invested over 100 times what we’ve raised off ads and t-shirts, we’re still bringing more. Once that’s in place, we’ll be focusing again on BREAKING NEWS which we experimented with for a bit there and it turns out was actually quite a hit.
I don’t mean to discourage folks from voicing their opinions on our stuff – however, we have about zero patience for the whole “sell out” crap any more. People have always associated some attributes to us L0pht guys that simply are NOT THERE. We do NOT believe that money is evil and we do not exist simply to give you guys stuff. We enjoy providing for the community but in the process of constantly evolving into something better, we ask for support from that same community or those trying to reach that community. If in the process of consuming our free stuff you see advertisements… tough shit? I really don’t know what else to say to that.

Dude, you don’t like it, then don’t watch it. Not very difficult. The thousands of other people who do watch it every week do enjoy it. You do know that very few news organizations actually ‘create’ their own news don’t you? CNN usually just grabs stuff from the AP or the NYT same with your local news. The point to HNN is that it is all in one place for easy consumption, you don’t have to surf 100 websites to get what you want.
Besides we do have original content, you obviously don’t watch more than the first few seconds of an episode. Also we will have more episodes of ‘The Buffer overflow’ and ‘Behind the Firewall’ just as soon as we have time to film, edit, and process them.
As for the T-shirts and sponsors, umm, information may want to be free but bandwidth isn’t. Again no one is forcing you to buy a t-shirt.
As for the website, sure, I’ll give you that, we are working on it. We aren’t web designers and we have day jobs.
As for the hair, well, the ladies dig it, what can I say, you’re probably bald so :P

Yeah. The website is awful. It’s on the list.
I suspect you’d get a lot farther with the rest of your points if you were actively offering solutions in addition to your laundry list of douchy complaints and put downs. Your whining being touted as being in all fairness to us was a nice touch, but I don’t think it did much to mask the true intent of your comments.
Your delicate sensibilities aside, we bust our asses on a volunteer/shoestring budget to put this show together. We don’t have much use for nonconstructive dribble from your ungrateful wordhole. If your opening fluffer comment is actually true, that it’s good to see HNN back, you would be super rad to sac up and act like it instead of acting like a twit on the internet. Otherwise, feel free to take your crappy attitude and stick it somewhere sweaty and dark.
