DoD Embraces Hacker Cert to Protect US

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announces the official approval of the EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification program as a new baseline skills requirement for U.S.cyber defenders. Specifically, the new Certified Ethical Hacker program is required for the DoD's computer network defenders (CND's), a specialized personnel classification within the DoD's information assurance workforce.

OK, so first, Certs are useless. Other than providing a minimum of competence they do nothing other than line the publishers pockets with cash. Any monkey can study for a test. Look at all the moronic MCSE’s and CISSPs that are out there.
Second why is the US DoD using a European certification? Why did they not develop their own? Or contract someone to design one for them? More expensive? maybe but this is DoD we are talking about here.
And Third, and most importantly, you either are a hacker or you aren’t, there is nothing ethical about it. By prefacing the term ‘hacker’ with ‘ethical’ you give the illusion that all hackers are bad or are somehow unethical. I’m thinking HNN should offer an unethical hacker cert. Maybe we can get China to accept it as a baseline for thier cyber warriors. Ethical hacker, <snort>.
