    ARRL Field Day is June 26-27th, it is a national event during which radio operators promote ham radio by setting up stations and transmitting in parking lots, open fields, etc. To celebrate, we are throwing a ham radio party where we will be making contacts, giving demos, and dancing. Remember, hams were some of the original hackers.

In this key position, you will design, develop, and test features and functionality for the ExtraHop Application Delivery Assurance system. The innovative ExtraHop system is an intelligent, application-aware network device that solves some of the
    toughest challenges in network and application management and helps to keep applications running at network speed. We are looking for Software Engineers with great ideas and an enthusiasm for elegant code as we continue to expand the functionality of the current ExtraHop products as well as develop other exciting new projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, implement, and test features and functionality for ExtraHop products
    • Optimize product performance
    • Develop maintainable, extensible solutions to complex internal communications and schema problems
    • Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents

    Qualifications

    • Four-year degree or equivalent in a related discipline (such as computer science, engineering, or information technology)
    • Five years of professional software-development experience in a Unix-based environment
    • Mastery of C and data structures required
    • Extensive background in TCP/IP networking
    • Knowledge and expertise in software-engineering methodologies and effective unit testing
    • Solid understanding of enterprise networking technologies: switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization technologies, and so forth
    • Solid understanding of enterprise-architecture concepts: 3-tier architecture, high-availability/disaster recovery (active-active data centers, redundant switch stacks, and so forth)
    • Solid understanding of the OSI model and excellent working knowledge of the key protocols from Layer 2 through Layer 7 including ARP, IP, TCP, UDP, and HTTP
    • Protocol-level understanding of how various software components involved in enterprise service delivery interact: web servers, application servers, databases, web services, mainframes, network attached storage, and so forth
    • Hands-on experience with passive network monitoring: mirror port configuration (especially Cisco SPAN, RSPAN, and VACL configuration), network TAP installation, span aggregators, and so forth
    • Familiarity with trends in enterprise services, such as virtualization, cloud computing, and VOIP
    • Familiarity with the network- and application-monitoring space a plus
    • Experience analyzing packet captures a plus
